Shearer Bridge preservation work
Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is alerting drivers to a bridge preservation project on Route 422 in Butler and Summit townships, Butler County.
Starting on April 1, bridge preservation work will begin on the Shearer Bridge carrying Route 422 over Connoquenessing Creek, Delwood Road and the B & LE Railroad. Work will occur between the intersections of Route 8/North Main Street Extension and Route 68/East Jefferson Street with Route 422.
The first phase of the project will occur in the passing lane with single lane 12-foot restrictions on both eastbound and westbound Route 422. A stop sign will be in place on the Route 422 westbound on-ramp during this phase.
The traffic patterns and restrictions will change throughout the project with updates going out prior to the changes.
Mekis Construction of Fenelton, PA is completing this $6.2 million bridge preservation project, which is estimated to be completed at the end of October 2026.
Geibel Road Bridge Replacement and Road Closure to Begin April 13
Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is alerting drivers to a bridge replacement project with a road closure on Geibel Road in Summit Township, Butler County.
April 13 through August 11, Geibel Road will be closed between the intersections of Route 422 and Heist Road for the replacement of Geibel Road Bridge.
To detour from the northern side of the bridge project, drivers will travel north on Geibel Road, east on Route 422, west on Heist Road, and north on Geibel Road. Those travelling from the southern side will reverse these directions.
Allison Park Contractors, Inc. of Gibsonia is completing this $795,000 bridge replacement project.
